  • Social work / group room
  • Commercial kitchen
  • Nurse's room
  • Interdenominational chapel
  • Art and Music rooms
  • Principal's office
  • Reception area
  • Teachers' workroom
  • Storage room

  • Multi-purpose room (public gathering/gym/lunchroom)

Local Parish Youth Center - Our Current Building

When Sisters Academy was established in 1997 with 15 students, the physical facility suited our needs.

Ten years later, with a four-fold increase in enrollment, the facilities at St. Peter Claver Youth Center (which was never designed to be a school) are now hindering our progress.

Our current space, which includes a gym and four small classrooms, has become too small and insufficient to meet the needs of our students. The entire physical plant has deteriorated and is not functioning properly.

Today, the gym is divided into a classroom, lunchroom, locker space, staff and recreation areas. The other classrooms, trailers and the computer lab lack the space and facilities to be effective teaching areas. The entire school lacks privacy and cannot offer the confidentiality required for counseling sessions.

Sisters Academy relies almost entirely on the commitment and generosity of individuals and foundations. The projected sources of funding for the 2008/09 operating budget of $618,000 are shown below.

As part of our comprehensive middle school program, our students receive, at no charge outside of a small monthly commitment, the following services:

  • Full day, 11-month, academic schedule
  • Individual attention and small class size with 15 students per grade
  • After school recreation, sports and skills-building activities
  • Special family meetings and programs
  • Residential and day summer camp experiences
  • Individual, group and family counseling by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker
  • Transportation to events and activities
  • Uniforms
  • Text books and supplies
  • Meals and snacks
  • Professional instruction for extra-curricular activities
  • Participation and attendance at cultural, artistic and environmental experiences within and beyond Asbury Park
